Dark Chocolate Bark Recipe
Dark chocolate is well-known for its high levels of antioxidants, which makes it a great dessert! The darker the chocolate, the less sugar is added, so the healthier it is for you. Chia seeds are a great source of omega-3 fatty acids, and other nuts such as cashews and almonds provide some protein, fiber, and additional healthy fats. Sea salt is a fantastic source of not only sodium, but also many other trace minerals.
Ingredients:
- 16 oz dark chocolate, at least 65% cacao
- 3 tbsp chia seeds (or hemp, or flax, or all!)
- 1 cup nuts of choice (cashews, almonds, pistachios, walnuts…)
- 1/2-1 cup gogi berries, dark cherries, currants, or dried fruit of your choice
- Sea salt, to taste
Directions:
Warm the chocolate in a double boiler, stirring frequently until melted. While the chocolate is melting, mix the nuts, seeds, and dried fruit on a piece of parchment paper on a baking dish or plate. Once the chocolate has melted, pour over the nuts and fruit. Dust with sea salt. Let cool and harden. Break into pieces, and enjoy!
